3-Ingredient Slow Cooker Kalua Pig

3-Ingredient Slow Cooker Kalua Pig

Servings: 8

Bring the flavors of Hawaii to your kitchen with this simple Kalua Pig recipe. Traditionally enjoyed at luaus, this dish delivers smoky, tender pork with minimal effort. Using only three ingredients and a slow cooker, you can recreate this island favorite for weeknight dinners or special gatherings. Pair it with classic Hawaiian sides or your favorite comfort foods for a tropical-inspired meal.

Ingredients:

5 lbs boneless, skinless pork shoulder

1 tbsp Hawaiian Alaea red salt

1 tbsp liquid smoke

Instructions:

1. Prep the Pork
Pierce the pork shoulder all over with a fork or sharp knife. This allows the seasoning to penetrate deeply.

2. Season Generously
Rub the pork thoroughly with Alaea red salt, making sure every surface is coated evenly.

3. Add Smoky Flavor
Place the seasoned pork into the slow cooker. Drizzle the liquid smoke over the meat for that authentic, earthy aroma.

4. Slow Cook
Cover and cook on low for approximately 16 hours. The slow cooking process will make the pork incredibly tender.

5. Shred and Serve
Use two forks to shred the pork, discarding any excess fat. Serve it on its own or with rice, macaroni salad, sandwiches, or tacos for a fun twist.

Tip: This Kalua Pig pairs perfectly with Hawaiian staples like rice and macaroni salad, but it’s also great in fusion dishes!
