Honey Garlic Ribs (Fall-Off-the-Bone!)

Serves 4–6

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds pork spareribs
  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup distilled white vinegar
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground ginger (optional but delicious)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (optional, to thicken sauce)

Instructions

1. Prep the Ribs

  1. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs if still attached (helps them get tender).
  2. Cut ribs into individual sections or leave them in racks—your choice.
  3. Season lightly with salt and pepper.

2. Make the Honey Garlic Sauce

In a bowl, whisk together:

  • Honey
  • Soy sauce
  • Vinegar
  • Ketchup
  • Brown sugar
  • Garlic
  • Ginger
  • Black pepper

Set aside.

3. Cook in the Oven (Tender Method)

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Place ribs in a baking dish or foil-lined pan.
  3. Pour half the honey-garlic sauce over the ribs.
  4. Cover tightly with foil.
  5. Bake 2½ to 3 hours, until ribs are very tender.

4. Finish the Ribs (Sticky & Caramelized!)

  1. Remove foil and drain excess liquid.
  2. Brush ribs with the remaining sauce.
  3. Increase oven temp to 400°F (200°C).
  4. Bake 10–15 minutes, or broil 3–5 minutes, until sticky and caramelized.

Optional: Thicken the Sauce

If you want extra glaze:

  1. Pour leftover sauce into a small saucepan.
  2. Bring to a simmer.
  3. Stir in cornstarch mixed with water.
  4. Cook 1 minute until thick.
  5. Brush over ribs before serving.
