Puffy Balloon Flatbreads in 5 Minutes

These quick homemade flatbreads are light, fluffy, and incredibly satisfying. Made with just a few pantry staples, they puff up beautifully while cooking, creating soft layers and a delicious texture that’s perfect for dipping, wrapping, or serving alongside your favorite meals.

Ingredients

350g all-purpose flour

10–20g extra flour, for dusting and shaping

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

200ml hot water

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.

Add the vegetable oil and hot water. Stir with a spoon until the mixture comes together into a soft dough.

Once cool enough to handle, gently bring the dough together with your hands. No kneading is necessary.

Cover the dough and let it rest for 5 minutes.

Divide the dough into 6–8 equal portions and shape each into a ball.

Lightly dust your work surface with flour and roll each ball into a thin round flatbread.

Heat a dry skillet or nonstick pan over medium-high heat.

Cook each flatbread for 1–2 minutes on the first side until bubbles appear, then flip and cook for another 1–2 minutes. The bread should puff up like a balloon and develop golden brown spots.

Transfer to a plate and cover with a clean kitchen towel to keep soft and warm.
