Directions
1️⃣ Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2️⃣ Cook the Beef
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
Drain any excess fat.
3️⃣ Sauté Onion & Garlic
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet.
Cook until the onion is soft and translucent, about 3–4 minutes.
4️⃣ Add Cabbage & Seasonings
Stir in:
Chopped cabbage
Diced tomatoes (with juice)
Beef broth
Salt, black pepper, paprika, and thyme
Mix thoroughly so all ingredients are evenly combined.
5️⃣ Bake the Casserole
Transfer the mixture to a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Cover with aluminum foil.
Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, until the cabbage is tender.
6️⃣ Add Cheese & Finish Baking
Remove the foil.
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top.
Bake 10–15 more minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
7️⃣ Serve
Let the bake cool for a few minutes before serving.
Serve with cornbread, crusty bread, or a green side salad.
Tips & Variations
For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes or jalapeños.
For vegetarian: replace beef with plant-based meat or cooked lentils.
For a shepherd’s pie style twist, layer mashed potatoes on top before baking.
Leftovers store well in the fridge for 3–4 days and reheat beautifully.
