Golden Ham & Cheese Puff Pastry Pinwheels – Flaky, Cheesy & Irresistible
These buttery puff pastry pinwheels are the perfect quick snack or party appetizer. Flaky layers of pastry wrap around savory ham and melted cheese, baked until golden and crisp on the outside with a soft, gooey center.
Ingredients
Puff Pastry: 1 sheet (about 250 g), thawed
Ham: 150 g (about 6 slices), thinly sliced
Cheese: 1 cup (100 g), shredded (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix of both)
Dijon Mustard (optional): 1–2 tablespoons for extra flavor
Egg: 1, beaten (for egg wash)
Black Pepper: to taste
Optional: dried oregano or parsley for garnish
Instructions
Prepare the pastry
Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface until smooth and even.
Add the filling
Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard (if using) over the pastry.
Evenly layer the ham slices, then sprinkle the shredded cheese on top. Add a pinch of black pepper and herbs if desired.
Roll it up
Carefully roll the pastry tightly into a log, starting from one long edge.
Slice into pinwheels
Using a sharp knife, cut the roll into slices about 2–3 cm thick.
Bake
Place the pinwheels on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.
Cook until golden
Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) for 18–22 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
Serving Tip
Serve warm for the best gooey cheese experience. Perfect for parties, lunch boxes, or a quick snack straight from the oven.
