Cook Time: 35 minutes
Total Time: 50 minutes
Servings: 6–8
Ingredients
For the Casserole
1 can refrigerated biscuit dough
500g breakfast sausage
3 tbsp butter
3 tbsp all-purpose flour
3 cups milk
1 tsp black pepper
½ tsp salt
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
4 eggs
¼ cup milk
Optional Toppings
Chopped parsley
Extra cheddar cheese
Crispy bacon bits
Hot sauce or maple syrup
Instructions
1. Cook the Sausage
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and crumbly. Drain excess grease if needed.
2. Make the Creamy Sausage Gravy
Add butter directly into the skillet with the cooked sausage. Once melted, stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute to remove the raw flour taste.
Slowly pour in the milk while whisking continuously to create a smooth gravy. Add salt and black pepper, then simmer for 4–5 minutes until thick, creamy, and rich
3. Assemble the Casserole
Grease a baking dish lightly with butter or cooking spray.
Cut the biscuit dough into quarters and spread evenly in the dish.
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and ¼ cup milk, then pour over the biscuit pieces.
Spoon the warm sausage gravy evenly on top, making sure every biscuit gets coated with that creamy goodness
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese generously over everything.
4. Bake Until Golden
Bake for 30–35 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown and the casserole is fully set.
Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving so it slices perfectly.
