Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons butter, softened
7 g active dry yeast
5 tablespoons sugar
1 cup warm milk
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
A pinch of salt
Oil for frying
Instructions
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, mix the warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, combine the flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add the butter, egg, vanilla extract, and yeast mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead the Dough
Knead the dough for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover with a clean towel and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Shape the Doughnuts
Roll out the dough to about 1 cm thickness. Cut into doughnut shapes using a cutter or a glass and bottle cap.
Second Rise
Place the shaped doughnuts on a tray, cover lightly, and let them rest for 20–30 minutes until puffy.
Fry Until Golden
Heat oil over medium heat and fry the doughnuts for 1–2 minutes per side until beautifully golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Decorate & Serve
Coat with sugar, cinnamon sugar, chocolate glaze, or powdered sugar while still warm.
