These Cake Batter Rice Krispie Treats are soft, gooey, and full of sweet cake batter flavor. The added cake mix and sprinkles make them taste like a birthday cake in bar form. They’re quick, no-bake, and perfect for parties or a fun dessert.
Ingredients
½ cup butter
10 ounces mini marshmallows
½ cup dry yellow cake mix (heat treated)
6 cups crispy rice cereal
¼ cup rainbow sprinkles (optional but recommended)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional for extra flavor)
Heat Treat the Cake Mix
Because raw cake mix should not be eaten untreated:
Spread the cake mix on a baking sheet.
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes.
Let it cool completely before using.
Instructions
Prepare the pan
Lightly grease a 9×13-inch pan or line it with parchment paper.
Melt the butter
In a large pot over medium-low heat, melt the butter completely.
Add marshmallows
Stir in the mini marshmallows and cook while stirring until fully melted and smooth.
Mix in cake flavor
Remove from heat. Stir in the heat-treated cake mix and vanilla extract until smooth.
Add cereal
Pour in the crispy rice cereal and gently mix until everything is evenly coated.
Add sprinkles
Fold in the rainbow sprinkles.
Press into pan
Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan. Lightly press it down with a spatula or buttered hands.
Cool and cut
Let the treats cool for 30–45 minutes, then cut into squares.
Tips for the Best Treats
Don’t press the mixture too hard into the pan or the bars will become dense.
Add extra marshmallows at the end for even gooier treats.
Top with white chocolate drizzle for a bakery-style look.
Storage:
Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
