Soft & Buttery Homemade Bread Rolls

Soft & Buttery Homemade Bread Rolls
These warm, fluffy bread rolls are golden on the outside and incredibly soft on the inside — honestly even better than bakery-style rolls! Perfect for breakfast, dinner, or served fresh with a generous spread of butter.
Ingredients
1 cup warm milk
½ cup warm water
2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
¼ cup sugar
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon salt
4 to 4½ cups all-purpose flour
1 egg (optional, for brushing)
Extra butter for serving
Instructions
Activate the Yeast
In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Mix the Dough
Add the melted butter and salt. Gradually mix in the flour, one cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
Knead
Knead the dough for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough feels sticky, add a little more flour as needed.
First Rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shape the Rolls
Punch down the dough and divide it into equal portions. Shape into smooth rolls and place them in a greased baking dish or tray.
Second Rise
Cover and let the rolls rise again for 30–40 minutes until puffy.
Bake
Brush with beaten egg if desired. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 18–22 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve Warm
Brush the hot rolls with butter right after baking for an extra soft and shiny finish.
Serving Ideas
Serve these homemade rolls warm with butter, jam, honey, soups, or alongside your favorite family meals. They’re soft, comforting, and impossible to resist!
