Soft & Fluffy Turkish Bread

This homemade Turkish bread is warm, golden, and incredibly soft inside with a beautifully crisp crust. Perfect for dipping, sandwiches, or serving alongside soups and grilled dishes. The aroma of fresh baked bread and buttery herbs makes this recipe impossible to resist!

 

 

 

Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 tbsp sugar

1 tsp salt

1 tbsp instant yeast

1¼ cups warm milk

¼ cup warm water

¼ cup olive oil

1 egg

For the Topping

1 egg yolk

1 tbsp milk

Sesame seeds

Nigella seeds (optional)

Fresh parsley, chopped

Melted butter or olive oil for brushing

Instructions

Prepare the Dough

In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

Mix the Ingredients

Add the egg, olive oil, salt, and flour gradually. Mix until a soft dough forms.

Knead the Dough

Knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

 

 

 

Shape the Bread

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and shape it into a round or oval loaf. Place it on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

Create the Classic Pattern

Using your fingers or a knife, gently press lines across the dough to create the traditional Turkish bread pattern.

Add the Topping

Mix the egg yolk with milk and brush over the bread. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, nigella seeds, and parsley.

Bake

Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 18–22 minutes, or until beautifully golden brown.

Serve Warm

Brush with melted butter while hot for extra softness and flavor. Serve warm and enjoy!
