Ingredients
For the Chicken Meatballs:
1 lb (450 g) ground chicken
1/4 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 large egg
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
For the Tzatziki Sauce:
1 cup thick Greek yogurt
1/2 cucumber, grated and drained of excess liquid
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
Salt, to taste
Instructions
Step 1 – Preheat the oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly brush it with olive oil to prevent sticking.
Step 2 – Prepare the meatball mixture
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, parsley, minced garlic, egg, oregano, and a good pinch of salt and pepper. Using your hands or a spoon, gently mix until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
Tip: Avoid overmixing — it keeps the meatballs soft and juicy.
Step 3 – Shape and bake
Form the mixture into small, even-sized meatballs (about 1 to 1½ inches in diameter) and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and fully cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
Step 4 – Make the Tzatziki sauce
While the meatballs bake, prepare your refreshing Tzatziki sauce. In a medium bowl, add Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. Stir until smooth and creamy.
For an extra burst of flavor, let the sauce chill in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes before serving — this helps the ingredients blend beautifully.
Step 5 – Serve and enjoy
Once the meatballs are ready, remove them from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes. Serve warm alongside the chilled tzatziki sauce for dipping or drizzling. Garnish with a sprinkle of parsley or a drizzle of olive oil for a finishing touch.
Serving Suggestions
Serve these meatballs inside warm pita bread with sliced tomatoes, red onions, and lettuce for a delicious Greek-style wrap.
Pair them with lemon rice, roasted vegetables, or a fresh Greek salad for a wholesome meal.
For parties, serve them as bite-sized appetizers with toothpicks and a side of tzatziki dipping bowl — guaranteed crowd-pleaser!
Chef’s Tip:
For extra flavor, try adding a touch of lemon zest or crushed red pepper flakes to the meatball mix. You can also grill or pan-sear the meatballs for a slightly smoky flavor before finishing them in the oven.
