The Ruby Infusion Everyone Is Buzzing About

A 10-Minute Deep-Red Drink That Looks Luxurious and Tastes Bright

This striking ruby drink is built around hibiscus, known for its jewel color and gently tart, cranberry-like taste. It’s refreshing hot or cold, easy to customize, and beautiful enough to serve guests.

Ingredients (2–3 servings)

Base Infusion

2 tablespoons dried hibiscus petals (also called roselle or karkadé)

2½ cups water

2–3 tablespoons honey or sugar (adjust to taste)

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (optional but recommended)

½ teaspoon fresh ginger (grated) or 1 small cinnamon stick

Optional Flavor Boosters (choose 1–2)

Orange peel (2 thin strips, no white pith)

A drop of rose water

Fresh mint leaves

A few crushed raspberries or pomegranate seeds

Step-by-Step Instructions

1️⃣ Boil the Base

In a small saucepan, bring 2½ cups of water to a gentle boil.

2️⃣ Infuse the Ruby Color

Add:

Hibiscus petals

Ginger or cinnamon

Orange peel (if using)

Lower heat and simmer for 5–7 minutes.

The water will turn a deep ruby red

3️⃣ Sweeten & Balance

Turn off heat. While still warm:

Add honey or sugar

Stir until fully dissolved

Add lemon juice last — it brightens the color and sharpens the flavor.

4️⃣ Strain

Strain the liquid into a jug or teapot, removing petals and spices.

5️⃣ Serve Your Way

Hot: Pour into mugs, garnish with mint or lemon slice

Cold: Chill, then serve over ice with berries or citrus
