Slow Cooker 4-Ingredient Cabbage Bangers

Slow Cooker 4-Ingredient Cabbage Bangers
Servings: 4
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 6–8 hours (low) or 3–4 hours (high)
Ingredients (Only 4!)
1 lb (450 g) pork sausages (bangers, bratwurst, or any good-quality sausage)
1 medium green cabbage, chopped into thick slices or wedges
1 large onion, sliced
1 cup beef broth
Instructions
1. Prepare the base
Place the chopped cabbage and sliced onion in the bottom of your slow cooker. Spread them out evenly.
2. Add the sausages
Lay the sausages on top of the cabbage mixture. You can leave them whole.
3. Pour the broth
Add the beef broth over everything. This will create those rich, savory juices as it cooks.
4. Slow cook
Cook on LOW for 6–8 hours
or
Cook on HIGH for 3–4 hours
The cabbage should become soft and slightly sweet, and the sausages juicy and browned.
5. Optional (for extra flavor)
If you want a more “pub-style” finish, quickly brown the sausages in a pan before adding them to the slow cooker.
How to Serve
Serve hot with plenty of the rich juices spooned over the top. Great with:
Creamy mashed potatoes
Boiled potatoes with butter & parsley
Crusty bread or dinner rolls (perfect for soaking juices)
Applesauce (for a sweet contrast)
Tips
Add a pinch of black pepper or mustard if you want extra depth (optional).
Use smoked sausage for a deeper flavor.
Don’t overcook—cabbage should be tender, not mushy.
This is one of those simple, old-school comfort meals—cheap, filling, and incredibly satisfying. Let me know if you want a richer version with gravy or extra ingredients
