Golden Cheesy Mustard Puff Pastry Twists

These buttery puff pastry twists are the kind of appetizer everyone grabs straight from the tray before they even cool down. With sharp mustard, melty mozzarella, and golden flaky layers, they’re perfect for parties, movie nights, or quick snacks when guests show up unexpectedly.

Ingredients

2 sheets puff pastry (about 400 g each), thawed

3–4 teaspoons mustard

150 g hard mozzarella cheese, grated

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

1 teaspoon sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)

Fresh parsley or chili flakes for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the oven

Set your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

 

 

 

Prepare the pastry

Roll out the puff pastry sheets slightly on a lightly floured surface.

Add the filling

Spread a thin layer of mustard over one sheet of puff pastry. Sprinkle the grated mozzarella evenly on top.

Layer and slice

Place the second pastry sheet over the cheese layer and gently press down. Cut the pastry into thin strips.

Twist the strips

Twist each strip several times and place them on the prepared baking tray.

Brush and bake

Brush the twists with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds if desired.

Bake until golden

Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until puffed and beautifully golden brown.

 

 

 

Serve warm

Garnish with parsley or chili flakes and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
