Golden Comfort Brown Gravy Potato Bake (Just 3 Ingredients!)

Golden Comfort Brown Gravy Potato Bake (Just 3 Ingredients!)

There’s something special about a dish that brings back warm family memories—and this one does exactly that. Inspired by cozy Sunday dinners, this incredibly simple recipe transforms just three everyday ingredients into a rich, hearty side dish that feels like pure comfort on a plate.

As it bakes, the potatoes soak up all the savory brown gravy, while butter melts into every layer, creating a soft, tender texture with a smooth, velvety finish. It’s the kind of dish that disappears fast—just like it always did at Grandpa’s table.

Ingredients

3 lbs potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold), peeled and thinly sliced

3 cans (10½ oz each) brown gravy

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions

Preheat & Prepare

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Layer the Potatoes

Arrange half of the sliced potatoes evenly in the bottom of the dish.

Add Flavor

Pour half of the brown gravy over the potatoes, then dot with half of the butter.

Repeat Layers

Add the remaining potatoes on top, followed by the rest of the gravy and butter.

Bake Covered

Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 60 minutes, allowing the potatoes to soften and absorb the rich gravy.

Finish Uncovered

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20–25 minutes, or until the top is slightly golden and the potatoes are fork-tender.

Serving Tips

Let the dish rest for about 5–10 minutes before serving—this helps the gravy thicken even more. Serve it alongside roasted chicken, beef, or enjoy it on its own as a satisfying comfort meal.

Optional Add-Ons (If You Want to Elevate It)

Sprinkle shredded cheese on top during the last 10 minutes

Add sautéed onions or mushrooms for extra depth

Finish with fresh parsley for a pop of color

Simple, nostalgic, and unbelievably satisfying—this is comfort food at its finest.
