Tiropitakia – Greek Feta Puff Pastry

Tiropitakia are delightful little Greek cheese pies made with crispy filo pastry and a creamy cheese filling. They are perfect as an appetizer, snack, or part of a meze platter. These golden, flaky bites are easy to prepare and guaranteed to impress.

Ingredients

1 roll filo pastry

200 g feta cheese

125 g Greek yogurt or ricotta cheese

50 g grated parmesan cheese

1 whole egg

5 g fresh mint, finely chopped

5 g fresh dill, finely chopped

Olive oil or melted butter (for brushing the filo)

Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

‍ Instructions

1. Prepare the filling

In a mixing bowl, crumble the feta cheese.

Add Greek yogurt (or ricotta), grated parmesan, and the egg.

Mix well until smooth and creamy.

Stir in the chopped mint and dill. Set aside.

2. Prepare the filo pastry

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

Lay the filo pastry sheets on a clean surface and cover them with a damp kitchen towel to prevent drying out.

Cut the filo sheets into strips about 8–10 cm wide.

3. Assemble the tiropitakia

Take one filo strip and brush lightly with olive oil or melted butter.

Place a spoonful of the cheese mixture at one end of the strip.

Fold the pastry over the filling to form a triangle, then continue folding in a triangle pattern until the strip is used up.

Repeat with the remaining pastry and filling.

4. Bake

Place the tiropitakia on a parchment-lined baking tray.

Brush the tops with more olive oil or melted butter.

Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.

Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

5. Serve

Let cool slightly before serving.

Enjoy warm as a snack, appetizer, or alongside a Greek salad for a light meal.
