Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
Ingredients
- 2 cups (480 ml) heavy cream
- 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions (No-Cook Method)
- Mix the base
In a large bowl, whisk together the milk and sugar until the sugar is completely dissolved. - Add cream and flavoring
Stir in the heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix gently until well combined. - Chill
Cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight for best flavor). - Churn
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions (usually 20–25 minutes). - Freeze to set
Transfer the ice cream to a freezer-safe container. Cover and freeze for 2–4 hours until firm. - Serve
Scoop and enjoy!
If You Don’t Have an Ice Cream Maker
- Pour the mixture into a shallow container
- Freeze for 45 minutes
- Stir well to break ice crystals
- Repeat stirring every 30 minutes for 3–4 hours until creamy
Optional Add-Ins (add during last minutes of churning)
- Chocolate chips
- Crushed cookies
- Fresh fruit
- Caramel or chocolate swirl
