Ingredients
1 large head cabbage
1 lb (450 g) ground beef
½ cup uncooked rice
½ onion, finely chopped
2 cups tomato sauce
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp olive oil (optional)
1 tsp paprika (optional)
Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the core from the cabbage and place the whole head into the boiling water. As the leaves soften, gently peel them away and set aside.
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, uncooked rice, chopped onion, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika if using. Mix until well combined.
Place about 2 tablespoons of the beef mixture onto each cabbage leaf. Fold in the sides and roll tightly to enclose the filling.
Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce in the bottom of a large baking dish or Dutch oven.
Arrange the cabbage rolls seam-side down in a single layer. Pour the remaining tomato sauce evenly over the top.
Cover with a lid or aluminum foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1½ to 2 hours, or until the cabbage is tender and the rice is fully cooked.
Let rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
