Slow Cooker Amish Beef Tips with Lemon-Lime Soda

Slow Cooker Amish Beef Tips with Lemon-Lime Soda

This incredibly simple 4-ingredient slow cooker recipe creates tender beef tips in a rich, savory gravy with almost no effort. The lemon-lime soda helps tenderize the beef while adding a subtle sweetness that balances the savory onion soup and creamy mushroom sauce. It’s the kind of comforting meal that tastes like it cooked all day—because it did, but the slow cooker did the work for you.

Ingredients (Serves 6)

2½ pounds beef stew meat, cut into 1–1½ inch cubes

1 bottle (20 oz) or about 2½ cups lemon-lime soda (regular, not diet)

1 packet (1 oz) dry onion soup mix

1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup

Directions

Prepare the slow cooker

Place the beef stew meat in the bottom of a 5–7 quart slow cooker, spreading it into an even layer so the pieces cook evenly.

Add the seasoning

Sprinkle the dry onion soup mix evenly over the beef. Try to distribute it across the meat so it doesn’t clump in one area.

Add the soup

Spoon the condensed cream of mushroom soup over the beef and soup mix. You don’t need to stir at this point.

Pour in the soda

Slowly pour the lemon-lime soda over everything in the slow cooker. The liquid will help blend the flavors as it cooks.

Cook

Cover with the lid and cook:

LOW: 7–8 hours

HIGH: 4–5 hours

The beef should become very tender and easy to shred with a fork.

Stir and thicken (optional)

Once cooked, gently stir the beef and gravy together.

If you want a thicker gravy, mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 1 tablespoon cold water, stir it in, and cook on HIGH for 10–15 minutes until thickened.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the beef tips and gravy over:

Mashed potatoes

Egg noodles

Steamed white rice

Great side dishes include:

Green beans

Glazed carrots

A fresh green salad

Add warm dinner rolls or crusty bread to soak up the delicious gravy.

Tips for Best Flavor

Chuck roast cubes work best because they become very tender in the slow cooker.

Don’t open the lid too often while cooking; it releases heat and slows the process.

For extra flavor, you can add sliced mushrooms or onions during the last 2 hours.
