Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 20–25 minutes
Servings: 3–4
Ingredients
For the Dough & Topping
1 lb (450g) pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
1 tsp dried oregano or parsley
½ tsp garlic powder
For the Filling
1 lb (450g) lean ground beef
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 small yellow onion, finely diced
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
1. Cook the Filling
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned and fully cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
Add the diced onion and bell pepper, then sauté for about 5 minutes until softened. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.
2. Prepare the Dough
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Lightly flour your work surface and roll the pizza dough into a large rectangle, approximately 10 x 14 inches (25 x 35 cm).
3. Fill and Roll
Spread the beef and pepper mixture evenly down the center of the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella generously over the filling.
Carefully roll the dough into a log, sealing the edges and pinching the ends closed to keep the filling inside.
4. Add the Topping
Transfer the stuffed bread seam-side down onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Brush the entire surface with the beaten egg. Sprinkle with oregano (or parsley) and garlic powder for extra flavor and a beautiful golden finish.
5. Bake
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the bread is puffed up and deep golden brown.
Allow it to rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing. This helps the cheese set slightly and makes serving easier.
