Cheesy Comfort Chili Mac Bake (3-Ingredient Easy Casserole)

When I was under the weather, my busy neighbor left this warm, cozy dish at my door—and it felt like pure comfort in every bite. It’s hard to believe something so simple can taste so rich and satisfying. This oven-baked chili mac casserole is the kind of meal that speaks without words: warm, cheesy, and made to comfort.

In the heart of the rural Midwest, meals like this are more than food—they’re a gesture of care. With just three humble ingredients—tender elbow macaroni, hearty beef chili, and a generous layer of sharp cheddar cheese—this dish comes together effortlessly. It bakes into a bubbling, golden casserole that’s perfect for sharing or enjoying on a quiet evening when you need something easy and reassuring.

Serve it hot straight from the pan, paired with a crisp green salad or fresh slices of cucumber and tomato for balance. Add warm dinner rolls, cornbread, or even buttered toast to soak up the flavorful sauce. If you like, top it with a spoonful of sour cream or a few pickled jalapeños for an extra kick—but honestly, it’s delicious just as it is. With a cup of tea or hot cocoa on the side, it truly feels like a hug in a dish.

Ingredients (Serves 6)

2 cups elbow macaroni

2 cups prepared beef chili (homemade or canned)

2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
