Golden Crust Mini Baguettes

Golden Crust Mini Baguettes
Simple Homemade Bread with Just 4 Real Ingredients
Nothing beats the smell of freshly baked bread straight from the oven. These mini baguettes are perfectly crisp on the outside, soft and airy on the inside, and made without sugar, eggs, or unnecessary additives — just classic homemade goodness the traditional way.
Ingredients
2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour or bread flour
¾ cup warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
1 teaspoon salt
1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
Instructions
1. Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let it rest for 5–10 minutes until the mixture becomes foamy and bubbly.
2. Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Pour in the activated yeast mixture and stir until a rough, shaggy dough forms.
3. Knead Until Smooth
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until soft, smooth, and elastic.
4. First Rise
Place the dough into a lightly greased bowl. Cover with a clean towel or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
5. Shape the Mini Baguettes
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Place an empty baking pan on the lower oven rack to create steam later.
Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 3–4 equal portions. Shape each piece into a small baguette and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover loosely and let rest for 20 minutes.
6. Score & Bake
Using a sharp knife, make a few diagonal slashes across the tops of the baguettes.
Carefully pour 1 cup of hot water into the empty pan in the oven to create steam — this helps achieve that beautiful crispy crust.
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the baguettes are deep golden brown and wonderfully crusty.
7. Cool & Enjoy
Transfer the baguettes to a wire rack and allow them to cool slightly before serving.
Serve warm with butter, olive oil, soup, cheese, or your favorite sandwich fillings.
Baker’s Tips
Bread flour gives a chewier texture and crispier crust.
For extra crunch, lightly spray the baguettes with water before baking.
