Golden Crispy Potato Squares
These crispy potato squares are golden on the outside, soft and fluffy inside, and packed with savory flavor. Perfect as a snack, appetizer, or side dish for any meal!
Ingredients
4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
2 tablespoons butter
1 egg
1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
3 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Oil, for frying
Instructions
Cook the Potatoes
Boil the potatoes in salted water until soft and fork-tender. Drain well.
Mash the Mixture
Mash the potatoes until smooth. Add butter, egg, cheese, cornstarch, parsley, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until fully combined.
Shape the Squares
Spread the potato mixture into a greased square dish or tray. Smooth the top evenly and refrigerate for 30–40 minutes until firm.
Cut and Fry
Cut the chilled mixture into small squares. Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the potato squares until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
Serve
Serve hot with ketchup, garlic sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Tips
Add chopped green onions or chili flakes for extra flavor.
