Sloppy Joe Casserole

Sloppy Joe Casserole
Ingredients
2 lbs ground beef
2 cans sloppy joe sauce
1½ jars nacho cheese sauce
1 bag frozen tater tot rounds
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Optional (for extra flavor)
½ onion, diced
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat the oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cook the beef
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef.
Break it apart with a spoon while cooking until fully browned (about 7–10 minutes).
Drain any excess grease.
Add the sloppy joe sauce
Stir in the 2 cans of sloppy joe sauce with the cooked beef.
If using onion or garlic powder, add them now.
Let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes so the flavors combine.
Prepare the casserole base
Pour the beef mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish and spread it evenly.
Add nacho cheese sauce
Spoon the nacho cheese sauce over the beef mixture and spread it gently.
Top with tater tots
Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the casserole.
Bake
Place the dish in the oven and bake for 30–35 minutes, until the tater tots are golden and crispy.
Add cheddar cheese
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
Return to the oven and bake 5 more minutes until the cheese melts.
Serving
Let the casserole rest for about 5 minutes before serving. This helps it set and makes it easier to scoop.
Tips
Add diced bell peppers or onions to the beef for more flavor.
Serve with a simple salad or coleslaw to balance the richness.
Leftovers keep well in the refrigerator for 3–4 days and reheat nicely.
