Husband-Keeping Homemade Bread
Soft, fluffy, and wonderfully comforting, this traditional homemade bread is the kind of recipe that fills the kitchen with warmth and irresistible aroma. Perfect for breakfast, dinner, or serving alongside tea, this rich and tender bread is made with simple ingredients and lots of love.
Ingredients
For the Dough
1 kg wheat flour
2 glasses warm milk
1 glass oil
2 eggs
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon instant yeast
Warm water as needed
For the Topping
1 egg yolk
Sesame seeds or black seeds (optional)
Instructions
Activate the Yeast
In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Prepare the Dough
Add the oil, eggs, and salt. Gradually mix in the flour while stirring. Add warm water little by little until a soft, smooth dough forms.
Knead the Dough
Knead the dough for about 8–10 minutes until elastic and soft.
First Rise
Cover the dough with a clean towel and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1½ hours, or until doubled in size.
Shape the Bread
Divide the dough into equal portions and shape into round loaves or rolls. Place them on a greased baking tray.
Second Rise
Cover and let the shaped dough rest for another 20–30 minutes.
Add the Topping
Brush the tops with egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame or black seeds if desired.
Bake
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 25–35 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serve
Enjoy warm with butter, cheese, honey, or your favorite spread.
Tips
For extra softness, replace part of the water with more warm milk.
Store leftovers in an airtight container to keep the bread fresh longer.
This dough also works beautifully for stuffed breads or sandwich rolls.
