Ingredients
6 slices bacon, chopped
1 lb (450 g) ground beef
1 small onion, finely diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 can (15 oz) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
1 can (15 oz) baked beans (with sauce)
¾ cup BBQ sauce
¼ cup ketchup
2 tablespoons yellow mustard
¼ cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
Instructions
1️⃣ Cook the Bacon
In a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat, cook chopped bacon until crispy.
Remove bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside. Leave about 1–2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the pan.
2️⃣ Brown the Beef
Add ground beef to the same pan. Cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
Add diced onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Drain excess grease if needed.
3️⃣ Mix the Beans
Add kidney beans, pinto beans, and baked beans to the skillet. Stir to combine.
4️⃣ Make the Sauce
Stir in:
BBQ sauce
Ketchup
Mustard
Brown sugar
Worcestershire sauce
Smoked paprika
Salt and pepper
Mix well until everything is evenly coated.
5️⃣ Add Bacon Back
Return the cooked bacon to the pan and stir.
6️⃣ Bake
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Transfer mixture to a greased baking dish (if not using oven-safe skillet).
Bake uncovered for 30–40 minutes, until hot, bubbly, and slightly thickened on top.
Optional Slow Cooker Method
After browning the meat and bacon, transfer everything to a slow cooker.
Cook on LOW for 4–6 hours or HIGH for 2–3 hours.
